Cardiologist, Aseem Malhotra is a firm believer in changing nutrition instead of medicating..

Call it what you will... banting, keto, LCHF, low carb

How about always having energy and always feeling well? I feel so passionate about this low carb lifestyle that I could shout it from the rooftops.

People always ask me, "But what do you eat if you don't eat carbs?" Firstly, I'm a physiotherapist, and not a nutritionist and therefore not giving any dietary advice. I'm only telling you what I subscribe to and what keeps me feeling amazing, and not having to exercise to maintain my weight (despite loving exercise, it isn't what keeps me in check).

Secondly, almost everything has carbs, so it's not that I've cut out carbs, it's that I've cut down carbs. So, the important thing is that you need to replace the fat (become fat-adapted) if you're cutting down the carbs. I have the red, orange and green lists printed on my fridge and find them invaluable in planning out what I'm going to eat. You can also google/pinterest low carb or keto recipes and you'll find lots and lots of them. I'll publish some of my favourites in the blog.

Thirdly, you'll see me in the picture with Cardiologist, Aseem Malhotra (@DrAseemMalhotra on twitter) holding his book, The Pioppi Diet, which is an easy start.

There are lots of fallacies around this type of lifestyle, and it's important not to get caught up with the fake news of it all. It works for me, and I would never go back. I'm always bouncing off the walls and I feel great. It's enough for me!
